Invisible (Narrative-Experimental 16mm film) 2005
Produced, directed and edited by Laia Cabrera.

Artistic-experimental film merging a narrative form with mental-abstract states. The film intends to frame the connection between micro and macro, the invisible labyrinths that connect us with the unconscious and the sudden changes that are beyond our expectations in life. Invisible uses digital projections too as a metaphor of ideas and dreams becoming objects.

Oficial selection Milano Film Festival 2006; Kinoforum Festival “Mostra International” Brasil 2005; Spain in New York, calendar of Cultural Events January-February 2005, Consulate General of Spain; Screening of Invisible with filmmaker talk at Topia Arts Center,  MA

Synopsis:
Prodiga and Good One are two sisters. Prodiga is home visiting from her constant travels. After missing her train she decides to stay one more night at her family's house. The sisters are in the midst of a conversation when Mother comes to tell them that they are bankrupt and left with nothing. The girls are pushed to take the responsibility of the household and their parents. They are forced to switch roles from being "daughters" to being "parents" or complete adults. Good One's nurturing nature makes it easier for her to adapt to her new position but Prodiga cannot help but reflect on the human condition, the inevitability of change, and the feeling of being left alone in a Universe that is as uncertain as a hole. For Mother the change is as painful as difficult. She was raised to believe that her role is defined by the specific function of caretaker and mother; now she is incapacitated to fulfill even that position. All her structures are broken and she feels cheated and lost.
